A middle-aged man met a violent end at the hands of irate residents in Mburi village, Njukiini, Gichugu, Kirinyaga County. The residents accused him of killing a watchman and disposing of his body in a classroom.
Suspect’s Violent End
The suspect faced a brutal death at the hands of villagers. According to eyewitnesses, the man had previously identified his accomplices in the murder. Mburi village residents, led by Njukii-ini MCA Timothy Kariuki, lynched him despite attempts by Kariuki to intervene.
Incident Details
The incident unfolded around 11 p.m. on Saturday when the suspect allegedly killed the night watchman. The body of the 74-year-old watchman was found in a classroom at Mburi Christian Primary School on Monday morning, leading to the suspension of school activities.
Discovery of the Body
Children discovered the watchman’s body without trousers in the classroom. The shocking discovery deeply saddened the students and staff. “It was a tragic sight. The watchman was found in such a distressing state,” said Mary Mwaniki, a teacher at the school.
Community Reaction
Residents expressed their frustration over increasing criminal activities. Peter Kinyua voiced concerns about criminals undressing their victims to steal. “These criminals are stripping men and searching for money in their pockets. This harassment needs to stop,” Kinyua stated.

The community is urging security agencies to intensify efforts against criminal gangs in the area. “We resorted to taking the law into our own hands because criminals often get released by the courts,” explained Joseph Wanjohi, a local resident.
