The government has negotiated an end to the nationwide minibus strike.
On May 19, 2026, Interior Minister Kipjumba Murcomen and Energy Minister Opio Vandaj met with public transport stakeholders at the Harambe Building in Nairobi to announce the end of the nationwide minibus strike triggered by rising fuel prices. Minibus Owners Association President Albert Karakacha and industry officials also attended the meeting, which resulted in an agreement aimed at stabilizing transportation operations and addressing the fuel price hike.
