Addressing Global Challenges

“At the G7 Summit, President Ruto will emphasise the importance of involving African countries in processes aimed at finding solutions to global challenges,” Mohammed said.

Africa’s Potential

He added that Ruto will highlight Africa’s potential for green industrialisation, digital revolution, and innovation. The President will also outline AU reforms aimed at enhancing trade and development.

Peace Summit in Switzerland

Come Sunday, Ruto will join other heads of states and government in Burgenstock, Switzerland, to discuss a common path towards peace in Ukraine.

Advocacy for Peace and Security

“He will address the negative impacts of the conflict in Ukraine and conflicts globally, including those in Africa and offer solutions informed by Kenya’s experiences on mediation and peacebuilding on the continent,” Mohammed said.

Kenya’s Commitment to Peace

Ruto was invited to the Russia-Ukraine conflict summit after a meeting between the European Union delegation in Kenya and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

High-Level Discussions

The summit seeks to provide a platform for high-level discussions on topics of global interest such as nuclear security, food security, freedom of navigation, and humanitarian issues.

Pursuit of Comprehensive Peace

It also seeks to create a common understanding at the highest political level for a comprehensive, just, and durable peace in Ukraine based on the UN Charter.

Initiating Peace Process

Further, the meeting will initiate a process towards peace by discussing for the first time at the highest political level a roadmap on how to involve both parties in such a process.
