Academics

An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is a center for secondary or higher education, often involved in research or offering honorary memberships. Plato founded the original academy around 386 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary dedicated to Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill. This site is located north of Athens, Greece.

The Royal Spanish Academy defines an academy as a society dedicated to scientific, literary, or artistic pursuits, established with public authority. It also refers to an educational institution focused on professional, artistic, technical, or practical training. These institutions can be public or private.
