A New Dawn for the Rule of Law: Congratulations to SC Charles Kanjama and the New LSK Council
Congratulations, Senior Counsel Charles Kanjama, on your election as the President of the Law Society of Kenya.
My heartfelt congratulations also go to the members of the Council elected alongside you to help steer the Society at this critical moment in our nation’s history.
Your distinguished record of fidelity to the Constitution and unwavering respect for the rule of law clearly persuaded your learned colleagues that you are the right leader for the job. You assume office at a time when the Constitution is being violated with alarming impunity, and the rule of law is increasingly threatened by lawlessness and political goonism.
Kenyans are hopeful that under your stewardship, the voice of the Law Society of Kenya will be firm, fearless, and consistent in defending the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and demanding strict adherence to the rule of law.
There is strong public expectation that LSK will lead from the front in safeguarding national assets from arbitrary disposal without public participation, and in vigorously confronting the theft of public funds and their misuse to buy political loyalty.
Above all, Kenyans are optimistic that LSK will remain vigilant and proactive in keeping the IEBC on its toes, ensuring a free, fair, credible, and verifiable 2027 General Election by strengthening processes and defending a level playing field for all.
Congratulations once again, Senior Counsel Charles Kanjama, and your Council. May your tenure restore confidence, courage, and constitutionalism in our public life.
